Welcome to the June edition of Blues News!
After a soggy May, June brought clearer skies and a welcome return to more consistent footy—though the long weekend meant a shorter month of play. Still, the Two Blues made it count, with plenty of strong performances across the board and a real highlight in Ladies Day, which saw an incredible crowd and energy that lit up No.2 Sportsground.
Catch up on all the action from June in this latest edition of Blues News!

Junior Rugby Update
Season Update
We’re now halfway through the season, and wet weather make-up rounds have been scheduled to help teams catch up on missed games from Rounds 3 and 5. Despite the interruptions, we’ve already seen some great results, and teams are working hard to get back on track.
NSW Country & State Championships
The Country and State Championships were held over the June long weekend across various locations in NSW. Congratulations to our U14s, U15s, and U18s representatives whose teams won the Country Championships, and to our U16s who were runners-up.
- U14s – Digby MacDonald
- U15s – Flynn Strachan
- U18s – Luke Basford, Amos Maddison & Brodie Dudgeon
Coming up in July, we have the Development Squad Galas for our U10s–U12s, along with the rescheduled U12s State Championship, which was postponed due to flood recovery in Forster-Tuncurry.
We wish all our juniors the best in their training and preparation.
NSW Country Team Announcements
Following the championships, the NSW Country teams have been announced. We’re proud to see Wanderers represented in the U15s, U16s, and U18s. Well done to everyone selected and best of luck!
Japan Tour
Our U15s are continuing their efforts to raise funds for their 2026 Japan Tour. At every home game, you’ll find a tub to drop off aluminium cans as part of the “Cans for Japan” initiative. Every can counts, thank you for supporting our juniors.
Volunteers Needed
Our club runs on passion, community spirit and volunteers. If you can spare some time, please consider helping out on game days. Whether it’s setting up the field, lending a hand in the canteen, or packing down at the end of the day, your support is appreciated. A canteen and BBQ roster is available through your team manager for all home games please check it and lend a hand where you can.

Netball Update
June was a huge month on the court for our Wanderers Netball teams, with some massive wins, nail-bitingly close finishes, and strong performances across the board. From dominant scorelines to edge-of-your-seat moments, our players showed grit, teamwork, and resilience week after week.
Impressively, the teams also managed to dodge the worst of the weather—touch wood—with no matches postponed so far this season. Here’s to keeping the momentum going into July!
Let’s go, Two Blues! 💙🏐
Wanderers Rugby Community (WRC) Update
WANDERERS DADS AND LADS
On Sunday 1 June Wanderers competed for the first time in Dads and Lads, a concept started by Merewether Carlton’s stalwart, Jocky Wilson, 5 years ago. The concept has grown from being an in-house event at Carlton to being embraced by Hamilton, Maitland and this year Wanderers and University with each Club raising funds for their chosen charity. Wanderers Charity was RUN DIPG.
From a personal perspective it doesn’t get much better than playing with my lads (and daughter’s boyfriend and his dad) and nine or so of my best mates that you don’t see as often as you should. One of those best mates, David Earp bought his dad, Richard, and believe it or not he owns a world class Gin Distillery and brought an esky full of goodies!
I encourage those of you who have not pulled on boots for a long time but have a desire to play with your lad to join us next year (it’s played under Golden Oldies rules). If you don’t have a lad, find a son-in-law or adopt a current player. It is a day that highlights what rugby is all about – Community.
