Juniors Rugby

Belonging, Building & Becoming.

Building Rugby and Life Skills

On joining Wanderers Rugby Juniors your child is placed into a team environment where there is an emphasis on developing sports and life skills including commitment, respect, discipline, sportsmanship, leadership, determination, self confidence, courage and teamwork. All junior coaches are Smart Rugby accredited and have passed the New South Wales State Government’s mandatory Working with Children check.

Our aims are:

  • To provide a club structure with all age groups thus maintaining a sense of loyalty and belonging for all junior players as they move through the grades.
  • To ensure that players receive the best possible training with quality equipment.
  • To develop a consistent approach to the skills development of our junior players by the development of a junior coaching panel of experienced coaches headed by a Coaching Coordinator.
  • To encourage and ensure the smooth transition of junior players into our senior ranks.
  • To provide a safe and supportive environment for all children playing Rugby Union within the club.
Players from U6 to 12 play a series of age-specific modified rugby games following the Rugby Australia Kids Pathway Laws (see image below). These modified rugby games progressively develop the individual skills, fitness and team work of all players in accordance with their physical maturity and understanding of the game.

Boys Rugby

Wanderers Juniors welcomes players of all abilities, from Under 7s to Under 18s. We foster a strong sense of community and teamwork, where every child can learn, develop, and belong.

Our program provides a safe and inclusive space for young players to experience the joy of rugby and build lasting friendships.

Our Smart Rugby accredited coaches provide expert guidance, ensuring a focus on both skill development and safety. We follow a progressive pathway, tailoring training to each age group and preparing players for future success.”

Girls Rugby (U13 to U17)

Girls rugby is the fastest growing area of our game and we want you to join in!

Our Girls Programs are new and are designed to introduce all girls, regardless of experience, to the exciting games of Sevens and Tens rugby and to provide a pathway for those girls wishing to progress to XV’s rugby.

** As per the Rugby Australia Mixed Gender Policy, girls aged 10, 11 and 12 can also play mixed XV’s rugby in their respective age groups. Girls aged 13 and 14 will need to fill out a RA Mixed Gender Dispensation Application to play mixed rugby in their age group.
